As most of you have probably already heard the license for Plastic People in Shoreditch is currently under threat by the Hackney council. Claims have been made that it has become a haven for excessive drug use and rowdy and violent clubbers. For those of you unfamiliar with the club this is certainly not the case.

Plastic People boasts an amazing Funktion One sound system and not a lot else, it is a tiny dark basement with an emphasis on sound alone. It is club that has and will always be purely about the music. It is the home of the Dubstep FWD nights and has helped build several strains of bass music in London over the past 16 years, even recently inspiring Uk based producer Four Tet to name a song after it…..

For those of you lucky enough to be in Dalston tomorrow night Slugz & Boyson are fronting a huge ware-step party called Highly Blessed (thats a dubstep warehouse party….If everyone else can make crossbreed abbreviations i can too!) We’ve been privileged enough to receive a 30min promo mix for the night and its sounding pretty hot, in a rip your head off and spit down your neck kinda way… and I definitely want to share that kinda of sonically graphic experience with you. As I’m sure a lot of you already know the Redbull Music Academy is in London this year and runs for 5 weeks between 7th Feb – 12th March. For those of you in the dark The Redbull Music Academy has been going since 1998 and is hosted by a new city each year.

Every year there is an intake of the most promising up and coming producers from around the world and an all star cast of electronic music greats giving lectures on production techniques and tips and tricks that have got them where they are today. Not only is it an opportunity for pupils to work one on one and collaborate with their hereos it also breathes life into the city that hosts it. Over the next few weeks London will be showcasing some amazing gigs and workshops that run in line with Red bull music academy.

I Hope everyone had an awesome holiday period, radsauce has been on a bit of a holiday break over christmas and new years so I’ll make up for it with a few posts this week, got lots to share! But just a brief one for the moment though….
