I don’t know about you but I’ve been waiting quite some time for this album to be released and it’s been in hot anticipation by critics the world over. Ever since James Pants was signed to Stones Throw Records at the beginning of the naughties and when Stones Throw head honcho Peanut Butter Wolf announced James Pants to be the “next big thing” a buzz has been stirring.

With Wu-tang releasing a hip hop/dubstep crossbreed album, Hudson Mohawke bringing us his unique style of electro-crunky-wonk-hop with hit debut album Butter and Raekwon the Chef bringing us yet another awesome album, 2009 hasn’t just been a huge year for electronic music it’s been a massive year for hip hop too (that’s right folks it’s not dead yet!).
On that note a talented UK DJ by the name of Chris P Cuts has put together a mix to mark closing of yet another decade of hip hop. Chris P has been active in the London scene for a number of years now, his latest mix is called “Going in 2009″ and it sure is tasty stuff. It’s got all the best hip hop joints from 2009 with a few leftfield electronic numbers thrown in for good measure. Enjoy it!

Sorry for the delay on this one guys, been super busy and it’s been sitting on my computer for a while waiting for my love and attention. But here you have it Hudson Mohawke, the new king of wonk, the man everybody is talking about has just done a BBC Radio 1 Essential mix. And it’s pretty darn good too, showcasing anything you can groove to with a good wonk dance, from dirty south hip hop to fluffy electro funk! Have a listen and judge for yourself.

It’s not every week I come across an album that I really love, not just because every track is great, but because you can tell that a lot of thought went into the project as a whole. Too many artists these days tend to rush their work resulting in releases that seem to be
a mish-mash of contrasting, generic or somewhat unfinished ideas.
“Suicide Beauty Spot” is the name of the latest studio release from a young producer called Point B on Combat records. He is currently residing in Brixton, no doubt taking a lot of his influences from its multicultural neighbourhoods.
